Kommentar Patron of Hambarjum Limōnčean (Tr. Hamparsum Limonciyan) and Minas Bžškean, and dedicatee of the latter’s treatise on music and notation (Eražštut‘iwn, written in 1812). (MB-Ke, MB-Ke)
According to Armenian sources, Andon Düzyan was a skilled performer of Ottoman instrumental music. See e.g. (Azgabanut‘iwn aznowakan zarmin Tiwzeanc‘, Mēnēvišean 1890, p. 20)
Mēnēvišean describes him as ‘a brilliant lyre player’ («քաջ քնարահար»), but ‘k‘nar’ may refer in this context to a santûr. (Azgabanut‘iwn aznowakan zarmin Tiwzeanc‘, Mēnēvišean 1890, p. 20)
A peşrev composed by ‘Anton’ in Nühüft/Hâvî is mentioned by Bžškean in 1815. (MB-Ke, MB-Ke, p. 146)
The same peşrev is attributed in some sources to ‘Çıġırtmacı Andōn’, but since there is no record of Andon Düzyan playing the çığırtma (an elementary kind of pipe), this may result from a confusion with another Armenian musician. See e.g. (AK56, AK56, f. 13a)
